Please see below the latest information from the Primary care Bulletin, 24 July 2025, Issue 349:
The findings of the dental workforce survey have been published.
The collection of data was carried out between January and April 2025 and reports the position as at the end of December 2024. The results aim to help understand the facilities available for the provision of NHS dental care in England and the numbers of staff across a range of professions. It also aims to illustrate providers’ experience in staff recruitment and retention, as well as instances of long-term absences.
The results show a slight increase in the percentage of time dentist chairs have been used for NHS activity nationally compared to March 24. Dentist vacancies have fallen from 3,160 FTE to 2,744 FTE, of which 2,516 are NHS FTE (a two per cent drop).
