There is concern that Legionnaire’s disease, which is a respiratory disease which can resemble COVID19, will be missed. Legionella Control Association Management Committee warn that we have set ourselves up for an increase in Legionella growth in buildings by shutting them down and by not using water systems.
The two diseases should be treated very differently (one a bacterial infection and one a virus), and it is important that good practices in water quality safety are followed in re-opening buildings and or in managing them during and after shutdown.
