Please find attached the CDO’s 5th update to general dental practices.
We now have the details of the direction of travel to September and essentially:
- From the 8th of June there will be no abatement where practices have returned to face to face care. 100% of the contract will be paid
- The abatement applied to non UDC contracts will be 16.75% from the 1st April to the 8th June 2020
- Practices will not be measured on UDA delivery
- Contractual hours must be adhered to with adequate staffing levels maintained
- Private activity must not be prioritised over NHS activity
- 20% of the contracted activity for 100% of the contract (to include all modes of contact – telephone, face to face or by video consultation)
- The assessment period will measure all clinical contact that dentists or DCPs have with patients from 20.07.20 to 16.09.20 compared to the number of courses of treatment provided by contractors in the equivalent period in 2019. Remote contact will be counted in 2020 but not in 2019
- Inability to meet the 20% threshold the default will be to revert to payments by UDA
- This is a temporary arrangement with a revised mechanism for the latter part of this contractual year as activity increases
- It is a requirement that All staff including associates continue to be paid at previous levels
- It will be mandatory to provide an explicit assurance that staff continue to be engaged and a declaration that practices have not made windfall profits from their workforce
