The Primary Care Bulletin – NHS England has published the NHS dental contract quality and payment reforms contractual guidance.
The publication is for dental contractors, dental teams and commissioners, and provides information on the contractual changes to the general dental services contract and personal dental services agreement that come into force from 1 April, for the 2026/27 financial year. It includes details on eligibility, relevant service requirements, actions to be taken, payment arrangements and reconciliation processes.
The reforms will help dental teams provide care that better reflects the diverse oral health needs of people across England. The changes also respond to concerns raised by dental professionals about aspects of previous contractual arrangements that they felt limited their ability to provide optimal care.
